Are You A Zit?
Acne is a curse for most people living. If you can trust Wiki, it says that acne affects 85-100% of people through their lives, primarily adolescents into their 20′s and beyond. Sorry to be such a ray of sunshine about this, especially if this you get afflicted with them. But maybe we can look at what they are, how they are formed, and just maybe how our lives can be turned into a giant zit if we are not careful.
Once again going to the aforementioned trusty Wiki article, we find out that acne comes from a blockage of a hair follicle. It can be an open canal (blackhead) or closed canal (whitehead), but for a whitehead, it is a combination of dead skin cells and a natural oil. As it is blocked, and keeps growing, the bacteria (which naturally occurs) multiplies and leads to an infection, complete with pus, an angry red and feverish red ring, and total social embarrassment. It is because these pores are meant to be open so the oils flow freely and protect the skin that so much trouble is caused by a simple, unnoticeable blockage.
God is in the business of lavishing His great love upon us. But the intent is not for us to keep all that love to ourselves. God created us to share, pour out, give that love away to others, much like the oils surrounding a hair follicle are supposed to be an open channel. But when we become selfish and try to hold tightly to God’s love without sharing it, our open channel becomes blocked. When we stop sharing God’s love, our lives become filled and infected with bitterness and anger. It robs God’s children of the joy He offers us. Life stops being about loving God first, and others second, to loving ourselves only. We can only fully experience life, with all the ups and downs, highs and lows by opening our lives up to this amazing love of God and let it flow through us into the lives of the people around us in our lives.
What choice are you going to make? Are you going to allow yourself to be an open channel for God’s love into the world? Are you going to allow yourself to become consumed by being self-absorbed and keeping that love to yourself? 
Healthy hair and skin or whitehead? Don’t be tripped up and plugged up, allow God to impact the world through your life the same way He impacted the world through Jesus’ life.
